Founded in 1890, the University of Tasmania has a rich and proud history which was celebrated in 2015, as part of our 125th anniversary. We're the fourth oldest university in Australia and this vintage earns us the prestigious title of a sandstone university; one of the nation's oldest tertiary institutions. Hytten Hall was a non-denominational residential college for 120 students located on the Sandy Bay Campus of the University of Tasmania. It closed in 1980. Named after Torleiv Hytten (1890-1980), professor of economics and first, full-time vice-chancellor of the University of Tasmania 1949-1957. The first warden of the college was George Wilson (1961-1974)

Collection consists of two dinner plates, a side plate, a soup & dessert bowl with Hytten Hall crest and pewter mug with Hytten Hall Crest inscribed "M . MACPHAIL S.R.C. 1969 NO STAMEN POWER"
